Located in the heart of West Virginia's Allegheny Mountains, surrounded by 6000 acres of state parkland, Canaan Valley is about a five-hour drive from downtown Cleveland. The resort, a state park, offers 91 acres of ski trails as well as snowtubing, cross country ski trails, and a snowboarding terrain park.

Also located in Canaan Valley, Timberline is about 5.5 hours by car from Cleveland. This resort offers 100 skiable acres with 4 lifts and 37 trails and runs, the longest of which is 10,560 feet. Timberline also has a terrain park and cross country trails.

Facilities at Timberline include a new (in 2010) 20-unit hotel and a variety of condo rentals.
