Guide Review - Johnny Mango World Cafe
Walking into Johnny Mango is like walking into a neighborhood cantina, just off the beach in the Caribbean or Mexico. The decor is casual and colorful; the music is lilting and upbeat; and the aromas escaping the kitchen area are enticing. The menu features a variety of burritos and quesadillas (with your choice of steak, chicken, veggies, chorizo and potatoes, and shrimp, among other options), one dish meals including delicious fried rice with shrimp, chicken, or veggies and accompanied by a fiery kafir lime sauce; and hearty entrees such as Bangkok BBQ chicken and "Tuna Cancuna" -- a blackened Caribbean-style delight.
Beverages range from juice bar selections (I particularly like the "Pelican Kiss," a combination of cranberry and orange juices with ginger) to seven styles of Margaritas to a refreshingly fruity sangria to a selection of Mexican and domestic beers. Service is casually efficient and friendly.
Johnny Mango serves one of the best Sunday brunches in town. Offerings include whole wheat waffles, huevos rancheros, and a smoked salmon scramble. Brunch prices range from $3.95 to $6.95.
