What's not to love about a restaurant that offers over twenty different kinds of grilled cheese sandwiches? Add a cozy interior, friendly staff, and a great beer selection and you've got a sure winner.
The atmosphere is that of a well-loved corner bar, with an antique tin ceiling, carved wooden bar, and original distressed brick. The tables and chairs are mis-matched and the decor includes remants from Halloween, Christmas, and Easter. Eclectic, to be sure, but somehow it works to create a welcoming feel.

The menu will make any grilled cheese lover drool. The offerings range from "The Kindergarten," a classic grilled cheese to more exotic fare, like the "Chorizo and Potato," "North Coast Shores" (with a crab cake), or the "Municipal Stadium Magic" (with bratwurst, napa kraut, onions, and cheddar).

Burgers and Salads

If you can tear yourself away from the grilled cheese section, you'll find that Melt offers an array of other menu items. I'm told that they serve one of the best burgers in town (I'm still stuck on the grilled cheese items) and they offer ten varieties, ranging from the traditional "Melt Burger" to the more adventuresome "Breakfast Burger" (with fried eggs and bacon) or the "El Diablo Burger" (with four kinds of peppers and pepper-jack cheese).

Salads include a Caesar (pictured below), a Southwest Salad (with red peppers, corn, and pepper-jack cheese), and a Bread Bacon and Blue Salad (with blue cheese and warm bacon dressing).

Appetizers and starters include locally made pierogi, house-made soups, artichoke dip, and goat cheese and bacon quesadillas.

Beer and Other Beverages

In addition to offering a full bar, Melt features over 110 kinds of beers from all over the world, ranging from pale ales to stouts.

Sunday Brunch

Melt also offers one of the best -- and most affordable -- Sunday brunches in town. Offerings include nine kinds of omelets; waffles, including a luscious peanut butter variety; and egg dishes, including a traditional steak and eggs.

The kitchen at Melt Bar and Grilled is open Monday through Thursday from 11am to 11pm, on Friday and Saturday from 11am to midnight, and on Sunday from 9am to 9pm. The bar is open seven days a week from 11am to 2am.
