Porthouse Theater and Grounds:
Porthouse Theatre is situated on the scenic grounds of the Blossom Music Center and next to the Cuyahoga National Recreation Area. This 500-seat theatre is in an outdoor, covered pavilion. Although it is outdoors, comfort is not spared as the seats are cushioned. The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable, a fun place to get together with family and friends.Performances:
The Porthouse Theatre Company is affiliated with the Kent State University's theater program. The company performs three well-known productions per summer season, entertaining over 7,000 patrons annually. Kent State Connection:
Kent State University students audition to take part in the performance and production of the summer programs. Students work ten weeks with the Porthouse Theatre Company and the Equity actors, professional directors, designers, and technicians. About one-third of the 100 staff members are Kent State students; the rest are professionals and students from other colleges.Have a Picnic at Porthouse:
Arrive 90 minutes early to enjoy a picnic on the lovely manicured grounds or at the pavilion before the show. Picnic tables are available. Subscribers may reserve the Thornbury Picnic Pavilion for free before the show. Single ticket purchasers may reserve it for $2 per person. Bring your own picnic or order a boxed dinner. Boxed dinners are available from Acme Fresh Market Catering and the Totally Cooked Catering for about $11-15each. They are available for pre-order 24 hours before the show online or at 330-672-3884. A concession stand with hot and cold beverages and snacks is also available.Pricing and Ticket Information:
Single tickets are $22-26 for adults, $18-26 for seniors, and $15-16 for students under 18 or with valid college ID. Purchase a subscription and get tickets for all three shows for about the price of two by calling 330-672-3884. Discounts are available to groups of 10 or more.
