The Great Geauga County Fair, held at the Geauga County Fairground in Burton over Labor Day weekend each year, has been delighting residents since 1823. The five-day event features livestock, live entertainment, a midway of rides, and lots of fair food, just to name a few attractions. The 2009 dates are September 3-7.

History:

The Geauga County Fair is Ohio's oldest fair and one of the oldest agricultural fairs in the United States. Founded in 1823, it showcased the region's produce, livestock, and manufactures--then as today. Since the late-1800s, the fair has been held in Burton and several buildings from the late 19th century are still in use at the fairgrounds.

Events:

The Geauga County Fair features more than 12,000 exhibitors and more than 2000 animals. Other attractions include a midway of rides, live entertainment, fair food vendors, and much more.

Hours and Admission:

The Great Geauga County Fair is open daily from 8am to midnight. The rides open at noon.

Admission is $7. Children 12 and under are free. Thursday is Youth Day and those 18 and under are admitted free. Friday is Senior Day and those 65 and older are free. Some grandstand events carry an additional fee. Parking is free.
