The Cuyahoga County Fair, begun in 1893, celebrates the county's agricultural heritage. Although Cuyahoga County is now more urban than pastoral, there are still plenty of animal and produce exhibits at the fair as well as rides, music, food, and fun. The 2012 dates are August 6-12.
History:
The Cuyahoga County Fair began in 1893 as the West Cuyahoga County Fair. When the Eastern Fair (held in Chagrin Falls) failed in 1929, the Berea Fair began representing the entire county. Today, the fairgrounds span 117 acres and feature exhibit halls, a racetrack, concessions, a campground, and more.
Events at the Cuyahoga County Fair:
Among the many events at the Cuyahoga County Fair are arts and crafts judging and demonstrations, farm animals and produce judging, midway rides, harness racing, a horse show, contests, live music and other entertainment, a demolition derby, and motocross racing. In short: there's something to interest everyone.
