Summer is festival season in Cleveland. Learn about these varied events as well as the Cleveland Grand Prix, Harbor Fest, the Air Show, and more.

2009 Senior PGA Championship at Canterbury Golf Club

The Senior PGA Championship returns to Northeast Ohio's Canterbury Golf Club in May of 2009. The week's activities include a pro-am event, practice sessions, and the four-day tournament. Among the golfers scheduled to play are Andy Bean, Ben Crenshaw, Raymond Floyd, Tom Kite, and defending champion, Jay Haas.

Cleveland Irish Cultural Festival

Cleveland's Irish Cultural Festival has been highlighting Irish music, food, art, and dance for more than 25 years. Held each July at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds in Berea, Ohio, the event is one of the area's most popular summer festivals.

Pro Football Hall of Fame Festival

The Pro Football Hall of Fame Festival at Hall of Fame in Canton Ohio, held for ten days each July and August, features 15 events, including the induction ceremonies for the new class of Hall of Famers and the annual Hall of Fame football game, the traditional start to the NFL season.

Cuyahoga County Fair

The Cuyahoga County Fair, begun in 1893, celebrates the county's agricultural heritage. Although Cuyahoga County is now more urban than pastoral, there are still plenty of animal and produce exhibits at the fair as well as rides, music, food, and fun.

Chagrin Valley Hunter Jumper Classic and Cleveland Grand Prix

The Chagrin Valley Hunter Jumper Classic is an eight-day horse show that includes the Cleveland Grand Prix jumping event. The show, held each July at the Cleveland Metroparks Polo Field in Moreland Hills, includes an array of events and three rings of daily hunter and jumper competitions.

Vintage Ohio Wine Festival

Vintage Ohio is a two-day festival that showcases Ohio wine, food, and music. The event, held at Lake Metroparks' Farmpark just east of Cleveland, features wine samples, ohio food vendors, craft exhibits and demonstrations, and food samples from area restaurants.

Boston Mills ArtFest

The Boston Mills ArtFest, begun in 1970, is one of the top fine art and crafts shows in the United States. Held over two weekends each summer at the Boston Mills Ski Resort in the middle of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, the juried show features 160 artists for each weekend, representing a variety of media.

Ingenuity Fest

Cleveland Ohio's Ingenuity Fest, founded in 2004, is a celebration of the marriage of arts and technology. Held in downtown's Playhouse Square the activities, many of them free, include concerts, dance, exhibits, music, and fun.

Wade Oval Wednesdays

Each summer, from mid-June to the end of August, the cultural institutions of University Circle in Cleveland Ohio sponsor a series of free Wednesday concerts, rangings from jazz to big-band to classical. In addition to music, many of the area's museums offer extended hours and discounted admission and area restaurants offer samples of their cuisine.

The Ohio State Fair

The Ohio State Fair, begun in 1850, has grown to become one of the largest state fairs in the United States. The 12-day event, held each year in early August at the Ohio Expo Center in Columbus, features live music; carnival rides, the best of Ohio livestock; produce, and crafts; and all the fair food you can handle.

Taste of Cleveland

Cleveland Ohio's "Taste of Cleveland" festival is a Northeast Ohio Labor Day tradition. Begun in 1996, the downtown event features food samples from 30 area restaurants, diners, cafes, and bistros as well as Ohio wine and beer tastes. There's also live music, kid's activities, and lots of fun.

Grand Prix of Cleveland

The Cleveland Grand Prix, begun in 1982, is a three-day racing celebration that ends with the running of the Formula One Grand Prix on Sunday afternoon. Activities include concerts, family activities, extreme sports demonstrations, and a variety of other car races.

Twins Days - Twinsburg Ohio

Twins Days is the largest gathering of Twins in the world. Held each August in the Cleveland suburb of Twinsburg (of course), the festival began in 1976 and grows larger each year. Event for twins (and non-twins) include food, live entertainment, a golf tournment, a "twins" parade, and lots more. It's unique and fun for the whole family.

Cleveland Harborfest - Tall Ships

The Cleveland Harborfest, held each July in downtown Cleveland, is a five-day festival showcasing magnificent tall sailing ships. Activities include ship tours, a ship parade, a kids' discovery area, live entertainment, food, and fun. Visitors can even take a sail-away tour on one of the ships.

Pro Football Hall of Fame Festival

The annual Pro Football Hall of Fame Festival in Canton includes 17 events in 11 days, the most noteworthy of which are the Hall of Fame induction ceremony on August 5 and the Hall of Fame football game.

Cleveland National Air Show

The Cleveland National Air Show, held each year along the shores of Lake Erie in downtown Cleveland, combines educational exhibits with thrilling fly-bys and tactical demonstrations by exciting air teams, including the famous "Blue Angels." Begun in 1964, the Cleveland Air Show has become one of the city's Labor Day traditions.
