Guide Review - John Q's Steakhouse
John Qs is a steak lovers paradise and something of a Cleveland institution. Located downtown, right at Public Square, the venerable steakhouse serves generous portions and old favorites, such as a 28-oz Porterhouse, fork-tender filet mignon, and steak au poivre. All dinners are accompanied by either a house salad or a Caesar salad and a choice of side dishes. Lunch offerings include a juicy burger, a spicy chicken fettuccini, and delicious salads. The atmosphere is that of a traditional mens club, with dark paneled walls, crisp white linen tablecloths, and sturdy flatware. The service is gracious, experienced, and knowledgeable.
John Qs has a good selection of California wines, many offered by the glass, and a smattering of wines from other parts of the world. The bar also features a varied selection of ports and single malt scotches. The smoking area and the bar are separated by French doors from the non-smoking area and rarely do the two co-mingle. There is a large and elegant private dining room, ideal for parties and corporate functions as well as a spacious, outdoor patio with a view of Public Square. John Qs also features a Sunday brunch during Browns season on game days. Its a great place to dine before or after a game or downtown event and the place for a ringside seat for the July 4th fireworks and Cleveland Orchestra concert.
