Sagamore Hills Township is located in the northern portion of Summit County. Residents enjoy the convenience of being close to both Akron and Cleveland, while enjoying nature's beauty. The school system is rated Excellent by the State of Ohio. It is a beautiful place to live, work, and play, nestled between Cuyahoga Valley National Park and Summit County MetroParks.
Sagamore Hills Township, along with Macedonia, Northfield Center, Northfield Village was once known as "Olde Northfield Township." Indian settlers are recorded as far back as 1807. Olde Northfield Township had its first European settlers in 1806 when it was a wilderness with many wolves, deer, bear, panthers, and wildcats. The township was part of the Connecticut Western Reserve, and regarded as one of the best parts of the reserve because of its fertile, well-drained soil. The Northfield name came from a town in Connecticut, near the home of the second settler, Jeremiah Cranmer. By 1819, there were 20 residents.
The region grew to 1076 by 1880, with the main industry agriculture. In 1932 a group of residents separated and Sagamore Hills Township was formed.
According to the 2000 census, Sagamore Hills Township has 9340 residents, 95% of whom are white, 3% African-American, and .9% Asian. In addition, 71% of Sagamore Hills Township residents are married. The median age is 41 and the median household income is $67,401.

Sagamore Hills Township students attend the Nordina Hills City School District that has a current enrollment of around 3967 students. Nordina Hills City School District has achieved the highest rating of Excellent by the Ohio Department of Education began the Local Report Card assessment. Facilities include a three K-4 elementary schools, one grades 5-6 elementary school, a middle school, and a high school.
Parks in Sagamore Hills:
Sagamore Hills Township Park is 40 acres of natural beauty. There are two pavilions that are available for rent as well as many picnic tables located throughout the park as well as five baseball fields to rent located near the concession stand that is seasonally opened. Other amenities include a gazebo, restrooms, grills, and playgrounds. Summit County's MetroParks Hike and Bike Path runs through southern Sagamore Hills Township, across from the Sagamore Hills Township Park. The Cuyahoga Valley National Park's Brandywine Falls is located in the western part of Sagamore Hills.
Annual events in Sagamore Hills include concerts in the Sagamore Hills Township Park throughout the summer, Duathlon and Family Fitness Walk in the summer, and the Fall Harvest festival each autumn.
