Lake Erie Monsters

The Lake Erie Monsters, Cleveland's AHL professional hockey team, began play with the 2007/2008 season. An affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche, the Lake Erie Monsters play their home games at Cleveland's Quicken Loans Arena.

History of Hockey in Cleveland:

Cleveland has a long history of professional hockey, beginning with an IHL team called the Cleveland Indians that played here from 1929 to 1933. After that there have been the Cleveland Falcons (1934-36), the Cleveland Barons (1936 - 1973), the Cleveland Crusaders (1972-76), the Cleveland Barons (1976-78), the Cleveland Lumberjacks (1992 - 2001), and the Cleveland Barons (2002 - 2004).

The Lake Erie Monsters are an affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche NHL hockey team. Essentially, they are to the Avalanche what a AAA team is in baseball. The Monsters play at Quicken Loans Arena.
