Great American Ball Park, completed in 2003, is the home of the Cincinnati Reds baseball team. Located at the edge of the Ohio River in downtown Cincinnati, the park has a capacity of slightly more than 42,000. The park is named for majority owner Carl Lindner Jr.'s Great American Insurance Group.

Unique to Great American Ball Park:

Some of the unique features of Great American Ball Park include:
  • The Gap - a 35' break in the stands between home plate and third base, the Gap is aligned with downtown Cincinnati's Sycamore Street and provides views of downtown from the stadium, and vice versa.
  • Pepsi Power Stacks - Located in right center field, these two smokestacks are a tribute to Cincinnati's riverboat heritage. They emit smoke and launch fireworks in respond to the Reds' efforts.
  • The Scoreboard - This park's scoreboard is the third largest in baseball (after Denver's Coors Field and Detroit's Comerica Park).

    Game Day:

    Attending a Cincinnati Reds game at Great America Ball Park is one of highlights of visiting that city. Here are some tips to help you enjoy your visit:
    • Seating - Great American Ball Park offers three levels of seating plus bleachers beneath the scoreboard.
    • Security - All visitors to Great American Ball Park must go through a brief security check. In addition, no bags larger than 16x16x8" are permitted. Visitors cannot bring alcohol into the park.

      Facilities at Great American Ball Park:

      • Concessions - Food and Beverages concessions are available throughout the park, including beer, Skyline chili, and Riverfront hot dogs.
      • Restrooms - There are 47 restrooms located throughout the ballpark. All are wheelchair accessible.
      • Smoking - In keeping with Ohio's ban on smoking, Great American Ball Park is a non-smoking facility.
      • Rainouts - A game is considered complete after 4 1/2 innings are played or 5 innings if the Reds are losing. In addition, no inning can begin after 1am. Hold on to your original ticket for rainout game tickets.

        Tours:

        Behind-the-scenes tours of Great American Ball Park are offered daily from April 8 through the end of baseball season. Tours are $15 for adults, $13 for students and seniors, and free for those age 5 and younger.

        Parking:

        Great American Ball Park has 3500 onsite parking slots. Rates range from $10 to $12. Advance-purchase handicap parking passes are available from the Reds ticket office for $12 to $15. In addition, there are thousands of downtown parking spaces within a short walk of the ball park.

        Special Events:

        Great American Ball Park offers a variety of special spaces for groups of 25 to 150 people, including the Cincinnati Bell Riverboat Deck with sweeping views of the Ohio River. Call 513 765-7600 for group event information.

        Hotels near Great American Ball Park:

        There are several hotels in downtown Cincinnati within walking distance of Great American Ball Park. Among these are the Westin Cincinnati (check rates), the Hilton (check rates), and the Cincinnatian (check rates).
