In December 2008, the Arena Football League announced that it was canceling the 2009 season to reorganize. Play is expected to resume in 2010.
History:
The Gladiators franchise began in 1997 as the New Jersey Red Dogs, later re-named the New Jersey Gladiators. The team won the division championship in 2002.In 2003, the team moved to Las Vegas, where it played through the 2007 season. In October of 2007, it was announced that the Gladiators were coming to Cleveland, under the direction of CEO and President of Football Operations, Bernie Kosar.
