Guide Review - Mi Pueblo Mexican Restaurant
If you're looking for a place to relax between museum stops at University Circle, Mi Pueblo is that place. Located on Euclid Avenue and 116th Street within walking distance of Case Western Reserve University and all of the area museums, this unassuming storefront restaurant is an affordable and friendly oasis.
The menu is huge, offering everything from fresh fish to chiles rellenos to single burritos and enchiladas. They pride themselves on their burritos and when I visited recently, the chicken burrito was large enough for two meals. There is a large seafood section and the shrimp fajitas we ordered were excellent, with the shrimp cooked just right and just a hint of spiciness. Egg dishes are served all day and come just like I've had them in Mexico City, with flour tortillas, rice, and beans. My favorite is the huevos con chorizo (eggs with spicy Mexican sausage). The guacamole was chunky and flavorful and gave a nice balance to our spicy entrees
Margaritas are the favorite drink at Mi Pueblo and come in small, medium, and fish-bowl size. For the tequila fan, they can be made with a large selection of tequilas. The restaurant's decor is somewhat drab, but piped in Mexican music gives the place a festive air. The service is casual, but friendly and eager to please.(last updated 4-19-08)
