Opened in April of 2007, the Cleveland Pride Clinic is the first such facility in Ohio to focus on the health and wellness needs of the Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual, and Trans-Gender community. Located on Cleveland's west side, the clinic offers a full range of health, family planning, and counseling services.
What is the Pride Clinic?:
The Pride Clinic is a full-service health clinic that welcomes LGBT clients. Their motto is that they "believe it is as important to respect lives as to save them." The hope of the center's medical director, Douglas Van Auken, is that the clinic will work to establish trust between patients and their doctors -- an essential part to preventing and treating disease.
The Pride Clinic has three doctors, a registered nurse, and a licensed social worker on staff. The facility offers primary care as well as specializing in risk reduction, screening, and testing of sexual transmitted diseases and HIV. They also offer a smoking cessation program, family planning, well child care, obstetrics and gynecological care, and management of chronic diseases, such as hypertension, diabetes, and lung disease.
Hours and Appointments:
The Pride Clinic is currently opened on Wednesday evenings from 430pm to 8pm. The staff says that they will expand the hours if the demand warrants it.
You can call the clinic directly at 216 651-3499 for an appointment or get a referral from another physician, government agency, or community agency. The clinic is underwritten by Cuyahoga County and is open to financially-challenged LGBT persons.
