Cleveland Lesbian Gay Bi Trans Pride, begun in 1989, is a June weekend of activities, including a parade, a party in the park, and live entertainment -- all designed to celebrate the diversity and solidarity of Cleveland's LGBT community. The 2013 date is June 29.
The events for the 2013 event will include a parade from W. 3rd St. to Voinovich Park (behind the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
), where there will be a party with live entertainment, food and drink, and a variety of vendors. New for 2013 is a senior social tent. Cleveland Pride is a family-friendly event. Hours are noon to 8pm. Suggested donation is $10 to $20.
Entertainment at Cleveland Pride:
Entertainers at the 2012 Cleveland Pride included DJ Dwreck: The Brionna Brooks Show: Melissa “Cha Cha” Figueroa: April Evangelista, Miss Ohio National Pride Family; and Cleveland Kings and Girls. Entertainers for 2013 have yet to be announced.
Volunteer for Pride:
A successful Pride event requires scores of volunteers. Needed are people for the Friday truck load, to man the Senior and Children's pavilions, to make signs and decorate the festival, to set up and tear down the event; among other things. For a complete list of needs and times, see the Pride Web site.
To volunteer, contact Kim Hunyor at 216 651-6439.
