Lake County Fair

By Sandy Mitchell, About.com

The Lake County Fair, held at the Lake County Fairground in Painesville each August, has been delighting residents each year for over 90 years. The six-day event features livestock, live entertainment, a midway of rides, and lots of fair food, just to name a few attractions. The 2008 dates are August 12 - 17.
History: The Lake County Fair was first held, in a much smaller version, in 1850, just ten years after Lake County was formed from a portion of Geauga County. The current fair was created in 1912 and an event has been held every year since.
Events: The many events of the Lake County Fair include a parade, live entertainment, horse shows, tractor pulls, livestock sales and competition, midway rides, and a host of fair food vendors.
Hours and Admission: The Lake Country Fair is open from 8am to 11pm daily. The midway opens at noon. Admission (2007 prices) is $6 for adults, $3 for those 65 and older, and free for those 12 and younger. Midway rides and some grandstand events carry an additional fee.
