The bridges crossing the Cuyahoga River illustrate the industrial building blocks of Cleveland’s history. Borrowing the idea of the bridge as a crossing, CPA translates the structural form of Cleveland’s bridges to two-dimensional patterns for sidewalk crossings. The zigzagging design of beams and girders are rendered in brick patterning announcing the city’s industrial infrastructure.
