Laura Paglin is a Cleveland Heights-based independent filmmaker. Her short documentary, "No Umbrella - Election Day in the City," was one of 50 films chosen out of 4000 entries to be screened at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival.

Bio:


Ms. Paglin was born and raised in Oregon and moved to Cleveland to attend Cleveland Institute of Music, where she earned a Master's Degree in Piano Performance. Her interest in music led to her creating "Men, Women, Angels, and Harps," a film about the history of the harp, which was shown on PBS.

Her Work:


Laura Paglin's other films include "NightOwls of Coventry," a look at that neighborhood's colorful past, and a finalist at the 1999 Sundance Festival.

Sundance in 2006:


In just a few days in 2006, Laura Paglin's work gained an international audience. With the screening of her film, "No Umbrella - Election Day in the City," a film that chronicles Cleveland's Ward 7's struggle to vote during the 2004 presidential election, at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival, Ms. Paglin's film career is sure to escalate. Watch for her in the future.
