The Tuesday before Lent, Fat Tuesday or Mardi Gras, is a traditional day of celebration and festivities before the contemplation and abstinence of the Lenten season.
Cleveland may be a thousand miles from New Orleans and several thousand from Rio, but the city still knows how to throw a Mardi Gras party. Mardi Gras 2008 is February 5.

Fat Fish Blue hosts a whole day of celebration, with live entertainment starting at 11am. There's a New Orleans buffet, beads, drinks, dancing, and three bands -- Cats on Holiday, Tony Koussa Jr, and the Swamp Boogie Band. Admission is $12.(21 and over after 5pm)

Salmon Dave's, in Rocky River, celebrates Mardi Gras all month long with elaborate drink specials, spicy creole cuisine, and a friendly festive atmosphere. The party continues on Tuesday with live music in the bar, beads, and lots of fun.

The Mardi Gras Lounge and Grill
You'd expect a restaurant named the Mardi Gras to have a killer party, and this one doesn't disappoint. In fact, every day is Mardi Gras at this friendly, downtown eatery. Tuesday, however, they're offering live jazz all evening and lots of tasty Nawlin's style specials in addition to their regular selections, like a yummy Jambalaya. Remember, Mardi Gras serves late into the evening, too.
