Nautica Charity Poker

By Sandy Mitchell, About.com

Texas Hold 'Em returns to the west bank of the Flats for 2008, this time with a permanent home inside the Powerhouse. This year the charity games will include both poker and blackjack. Play starts at $2 and goes up to $100. Sunday tournaments start at $50. Players must be 21 years of age. Play starts on March 27 and will continue throughout the year.
The Games: Up to 24 poker and blackjack tables will be set up at the Nautica Charity Poker Games in the Powerhouse on the west bank of the Flats. Players must be 21 years of age to play. Seat fees range from $2 to $100 per hour and Sunday tournaments start at $50. No alcoholic beverages are served. All proceeds go to selected charities, a different one each week.
Lessons: Each session will include at least one table for free where players can learn and practice their skills before playing for money.
Hours: The tables are open 4pm until midnight Thursday and Friday (doors open at 330pm) and from 2pm until midnight on Saturdays and Sundays (doors open at 130pm).
Isn't Gambling Illegal in Ohio?: Well, it is. However, since the proceeds go entirely to charity, the games are not illegal (just like church bingo).
