U.S. Figure Skating Championships - Cleveland 2009

Cleveland Ohio will host the 2009 US Figure Skating Championships on January 18 - 25, 2009. The event, held annually since 1914, is the most prestigious event in US figure skating. The competitions will be held at Quicken Loans Arena and Cleveland Public Hall. More information on the event will be posted as it becomes available.

What are the US Figure Skating Championships?:

The US Figure Skating Championships is the most prestigious event in the US figure skating calendar, drawing over 1500 skaters, coaches, and officials. Participants quality to skate in a series of regional events. The top skaters in this competition go on the compete in the World Figure Skating Championships.

The 2009 Championships:

The 2009 US Figure Skating Championships, to be held in Cleveland January 16 - 25, 2009, will name 12 champions -- in Ladies, Mens, Paris, and Ice Dancing, in Junior, Senior, and Novice categories. The events will be held at Quicken Loans Arena, with Cleveland Public Hall as a back-up venue.

All session passes are available now from U.S. Figure Skating by calling 719 635-5200 or by mailing or via the Cleveland 2009 official Web site.

Hotels near Quicken Loans Arena:

The Hilton Inn Gateway (check rates) is located just across Carnegie Avenue from Quicken Loans Arena. Other downtown hotels, such as the Cleveland Renaissance (check rates) and the Ritz Carlton (check rates) are located within a short walk of the field. For a less expensive option, try one of the hotels at the I-77 and Rockside Rd. interchange, such as the Days Inn Independence (check rates).

Volunteering for the US Figure Skating Championships:

An army of volunteers are needed to make the US Figure Skating Championships a success. To volunteer, you must commit to working four 6-hour shifts and be at least 18 years of age. For more information and an application form, see the Cleveland 2009 Web site.
