Guide Review - Vivo
Vivo, just a block from Cleveland's Public Square, is an attractive dining room, carved out of an historic space. The room sports distressed brick walls, hardwood floors, and high ceilings. To soften the look, gold and aubergine draperies have been added along with white linen tablecloths.
The meal starts with a small saucer of pitted kalamata olives and a selection of breads accompanied by a plate of olive oil. First course selections include a delightful antipasti platter, which includes capicola ham, grilled asparagus, roasted red peppers, and shaved parmesan cheese, all topped with a sweet balsamic dressing. Salads are innovative. The one I tried featured golden and Harvard beets, green olives, and arugula, dressed with a feta cheese vinaigrette.
Entrees include a selection of hearty pastas and grilled items, such as a luscious osso bucco and beef and pork tenderloins.
Vivo has a small patio in front of the restaurant, along Euclid Avenue, ideal for noon-time people watching.
