Ohio State University, in Columbus Ohio, has a long tradition of football excellence. In the team's 117-year history, they have been national champions seven times and Big-Ten conference champions 30 times. OSU players have won numerous awards, including 6 Heisman trophies. Beginning the 2008 season, the OSU Football team has an all-time record of 798-302-53.

History:

Ohio State University has a long history. The team was founded in 1890, one of the first college football teams in the Midwest. The OSU Buckeyes are a Division 1-A team and a member of the Big-Ten conference.

Past Glories:

In the 118-year history of the OSU Buckeyes, the team has been national champions five times and Big-Ten champions 32 times. OSU players have won seven Heisman trophies and 128 players have been 1st team All-Americans. Among the many, many talented players are Archie Griffin, two-time Heisman winner; Les Horvath; Eddie George; Howard "Hop-a-long" Cassidy; and most recently, Troy Smith.

The 2008 Team:

The 95-member 2008 OSU Football team features over 20 players from Northeast Ohio, including several from football powerhouse, Glenville High School. To see the full roster, click here.

2008 Coaching:

The 2008 Buckeyes are led by head coach Jim Tressel, a Baldwin-Wallace alumni, who is in his 7th season as coach. He is assisted by defensive coordinator, Jim Heacok and offensive coordinator, Jim Bollman. Past OSU coaches have included Paul Brown (who went on to coach the original Cleveland Browns) and Woody Hayes.

OSU Football Media:

Most OSU home and away games are televised in Cleveland on channel 5 (ABC). Fans can also watch the games via their computer via All-access. Click here to activate.

The Ohio State University Marching Band:

One of the few all-brass and percussion marching bands in the country, the 229-member OSU Marching Band is known for its crisp sound and its trademark "Script Ohio." The band, founded in 1878 as a 12-member fife and drum corps, has won numerous awards and was invented such marching band staples as high-stepping and script writing.

Ohio Stadium:

Ohio Stadium, built in 1922, sits on the banks of the Olentangy River in Columbus. The horseshoe-shaped stadium is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has a seating capacity of over 101,000, one of the largest in college football. The stadium has just undergone a three-year renovation which updated the facilities and added new restrooms and concessions.
