Chris "Beanie" Wells - OSU Running Back

Chris "Beanie" Wells, an Akron native, began his career with the Ohio State "Buckeye" football team in 2006. He earned the starting position in 2007, his sophomore year.
Early Life: Chris Wells was born in Akron on August 7, 1988. He is one of 11 children born to James and Paulette Wells. Wells received his nickname "Beanie" in childhood, reportedly from his big brother.
High School: Wells graduated from Akron's Garfield High School, where he played on the football team all four years. In his senior year, he rushed for over 2000 yards and scoring 28 touchdowns. He was also named to play in the US Army All-American Bowl, for which he was named the "Most Valuable Player."
Chris Wells at Ohio State: Wells turned down offers at USC and Michigan to play at Ohio State. His freshman year (2006), he rushed for 576 yards, including a 55-yard touchdown run in the OSU-Michigan game.
