Charlie Frye

Charlie Frye, born August 28, 1981, was a quarterback for the Cleveland Browns from 2005 to 2007. Born and educated in Ohio, Frye was the Browns' third round draft pick in 2005. Frye was traded to the Seattle Seahawks after the first game of the 2007 season. He was replaced in Cleveland by Derek Anderson.

Early Life:

Charlie Frye was born and raised in Willard, in north central Ohio, the son of David and Sally Frye. He is said to have grown up idolizing former Cleveland quarterback, Bernie Kosar.

High School:

Charlie Frye attended Williard High School in Williard Ohio, where he broke 17 school football records before graduating in 2000.

College :

Frye graduated from the University of Akron. At Akron, Frye holds 54 school records, including career marks for passing yards (11,049), for total offense (11,478), and for completion percentage (63.6%). Frye ranks third on the all-time MAC conference passing yards list. He was also named the Senior Bowl MVP in 2005.

Charlie Frye, drafted in 2005, started the last five games of the 2005/2006 season, with a win-loss record of 2-3. The 6'4", 217 lb Frye started as quarterback in the 2006 season with mixed results, partly due to an ineffective front line. After a disastrous first regular season game in 2007 against Pittsburgh, Frye was traded to the Seattle Seahawks.
