The Western Reserve Historical Society
The Western Reserve Historical Society, located in Cleveland's University Circle neighborhood, is actually two museums -- the History Museum and the Crawford Auto-Aviation Museum -- plus an extensive library. It's rarely crowded and it's filled with interesting exhibits about Cleveland from the days of Moses Cleaveland to the present.
Cleveland Cultural Gardens
Cleveland Cultural Gardens, a collection of 24 gardens that represent the different ethnic and community groups that make up greater Cleveland, is located on a narrow 50-acre strip along East and MLK Blvds. between Lake Erie and University Circle. The gardens, begun in 1916, are a lovely visual depiction of Greater Cleveland's diversity.
The Children's Museum of Cleveland
The Children's Museum of Cleveland is an interesting and interactive place for kids and adults to learn and have fun together. Located in the University Circle neighborhood, the museum, established in 1981, is designed specifically for children ages 12 months - 8 years and their caregivers. It's a great place to spend the afternoon.
Lake Erie Nature and Science Center
The Lake Erie Nature and Science Center, located east of Cleveland in Bay Village Ohio, is a place where young and "not-so-young" can learn about wildlife and nature. The center, founded in 1945, houses an animal rehabilitation clinic as well as a variety of indoor and outdoor animal exhibits.
James A. Garfield National Historic Site
The James A. Garfield National Historic Site, located in Mentor Ohio, includes the 7.82 acre estate of the United States' 20th president, James A. Garfield, who served from March of 1881 until his assassination in September of that year. The site includes the spacious main house, several out buildings, and a visitors' center with changing exhibits about Garfield's life, presidency, and death.
Cleveland Museum of Natural History
The Cleveland Museum of Natural History, located in Cleveland's University Circle area, is a treasure trove of over 4 million specimen. Exhibits include Dinosaur bones, natural gemstones and fossils, and a huge section on Ohio birds, plant life, insects, and archeology. A planetarium teaches kids and adults all about the moon, the stars, and the galaxy.

Great Lakes Science Center
The twelve-year-old Great Lakes Science Center, at Cleveland's Northcoast Harbor, just down the road from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, invites visitors of all ages to "learn by doing" with their 400 hands-on exhibits. You'll find features on technology, the environment, the body, and the Great Lakes. There's an adjacent OMNI-MAX theater, too.
A Christmas Story House
"A Christmas Story House," located in Cleveland Ohio's Tremont neighborhood, was the main set for the well-loved 1983 Christmas movie, "A Christmas Story." The house is newly restored and openned as a tourist attraction in November of 2006.
Hubbard House
Hubbard House was one of over 30 stations along the "Underground Railroad" located in Ashtabula County, an hour's drive east of Cleveland. Many of these simple, mid-19th century homes still stand today, a tribute to the brave men and women who lived there. One such home is the William and Catherine Hubbard House, right on Lake Erie. Today, their home is a museum offering a glimpse at 19th century Ohio live, the "Underground Railroad," and times surrounding the Civil War.
Hale Farm and Village
Hale Farm and Village, a part of the Western Reserve Historical Society, is a working museum, adjacent to the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Once the home of early Western Reserve settler, Jonathan Hale, the museum features livestock, 19th century working artisans, and the original red brick farmhouse.
USS Cod
The USS Cod is a retired World War II SS-224 submarine, moored at Cleveland's North Coast Harbor, near the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The USS Cod, a National Historic Site, is the only such vessel to be kept intact and visitors climb the vertical ladders through its hatches, just as the sailors did during active duty.
Cleveland Botanical Garden
The Cleveland Botanical Garden, located in the city's University Circle neighborhood, is a combination of indoor exhibits, housed in a magnificent glasshouse and ten acres of diverse outdoor gardens, including a special children's garden and a wheelchair accessible garden.
Rockefeller Park Greenhouse
Cleveland's Rockefeller Park Greenhouse, located just off of Martin Luther King Blvd. near University Circle, is a wonderful collection of exotic and native plants. Admission to the greenhouse is free and highlights include the extensive orchid and tropical plant exhibits as well as the spring bulb and December holiday plants displays.
William G. Mather Museum
The William G. Mather Museum, located just north of the Great Lakes Science Center in downtown Cleveland, is a retired 1925 Great Lakes bulk freighter, permanently docked and open to visitors between early May and late October. Touring the ship is a wonderful way to learn more about life and commerce on the Great Lakes.
Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad
The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad runs through Ohio's only National Park, the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, from Cleveland to Akron and Canton. A variety of excursions are offered year-round and each trip is a different adventure filled with fun, history and beautiful scenery.
The Garfield Monument - Lakeview Cemetery
James A. Garfield, the 20th President of the United States, was an Ohio native. Born in what is now Moreland Hills, he attended what became Hiram College and lived in Mentor before moving to Washington and the House of Representatives and ultimately the White House. He was assassinated and died just six months after taking office. His castle-like tomb is located in Cleveland's Lake View Cemetery.
Dunham Tavern Museum
Dunham Tavern, located on Euclid Avenue between downtown Cleveland and University Circle, is the oldest building in Cleveland still on its original site. The clapboard structure, built in 1824, was an important stop along the stagecoach route between Buffalo and Detroit. Today, the museum houses period art and furnishings and hosts periodic temporary exhibits.

International Womens Air and Space Museum
The International Womens Air and Space Museum, located inside the lobby and west wing of downtown Cleveland Ohio's Burke Lakefront Airport, celebrates the contribution of women in air and space flight with a rotating schedule of temporary exhibits. The museum is open seven days a week and admission is free.
GuitarMania 2007
GuitarMania returns to Cleveland for the summer of 2007. Eighty nine-foot tall Fendor Stratocaster replicas have been decorated by local designers, artists, and celebrities. The colorful art pieces will be displayed all over the Greater Cleveland area through the summer. In September and October, the guitars will be featured at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame before being auctioned off to benefit local charities.
