The Baricelli Inn is an elegant 1896 mansion, once the home of Little Italy's first doctor, turned restaurant and bed and breakfast, in the heart of Cleveland's Little Italy
neighborhood, just up the hill from University Circle
, the city's museum and cultural district. The beautifully restored Inn, open since 1985, serves elegant dinners and provides unique and gracious accommodations.
Update: The former Baricelli Inn is now the Washington Place Bistro and Inn. Look for a review of the new establishment soon.
The restaurant at the Baricelli Inn serves European/American cuisine in seven romantic and cozy dining parlors, many with wood-burning fireplaces. In the summer, a spacious and serene garden patio also accommodates diners. Chef Paul Minnillo emphasizes the freshest local ingredients, so much so that the inn even makes its own cheese.
Baricelli's menu changes seasonally. Recent menu items have included a delicious array of house-made cheeses, a warm green salad topped with duck confit, and luscious lobster tortellini. Entrees are evenly divided between meat and fish and seafood items. Meat entrees include such items as osso buco and grilled Colorado lamb chops. A well-chosen wine list provides suitable wines to best highlight the meal.
The Baricelli Inn has seven individually decorated guest suites, all furnished with elegant, yet comfortable antiques. All accommodations are air conditioned and include a European-style breakfast served on the inn's airy glassed-in sun porch.
Guests of the inn receive passes to University Hospitals' "One-on-One" fitness club, located less than a half mile away.
