Roscoe Village is a living history district, located in the East Central Ohio town of Coshocton. The town, about a two hour drive from downtown Cleveland, has been restored to resemble how it looked in the mid-19th century, when the area was a thriving business center along the Ohio-Erie Canal.

Before trains and cars, Ohio's canals connected the Ohio River to Lake Erie. One of the busiest of these canals was the Ohio-Erie Canal, which ran from the Ohio River through Coshocton and Akron on its way to the lake.

The first canal boat docked at Roscoe Village in 1830 and the town became a major port along the canal.

What to Do at Roscoe Village:

Activities at Roscoe Village include taking a canal boat ride, visiting the Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum (more on this below), learning a craft at the hands-on room in the Visitor's Center, and taking the Canal Town Journey Tour--a guided walking tour of the village that includes stops at the blacksmith shop, the weaving area, and the one-room school house.

Roscoe Village Museum:

The Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum at Roscoe Village houses five galleries. Among the items displayed are prehistoric tools and pottery from the tribes that inhabited Ohio, Ohio pioneer crafts and artifacts, Asian jade and armor, and American and European decorative arts.
