Guide Review - Minh Anh Vietnamese Restaurant
Minh Anh, located near Gordon Square and Cleveland Public Theater on Cleveland's near west side, has been serving excellent and authentic Vietnamese cuisine for over 15 years. The small, storefront restaurant is unassuming, adorned with wood paneling and simple booths and tables. What this gem of a restaurant lacks in decor, however, it more than makes up for with its food.Vietnamese cuisine combines Asian flavors with classic French technique, and the result is one of the more delicious cooking styles in the world. At Minh Anh, the meal starts with a cup of aromatic Jasmine or Chrysanthemum tea, a nice accompaniment as you peruse the lengthy menu.
Food highlights include the house-made soups, easily some of the best in the city. Particularly good is the cinnamon beef ball soup, a complex broth loaded with shrimp, sliced beef, vermicelli, lemon grass, and tiny beef balls. A small saucer of potent hot sauce paste comes with the dish.
Entrees range from simple noodle dishes, garnished with peanuts and julienned carrots and cucumbers to more exotic dishes, such as frog legs cooked in coconut milk. I've eaten here at least twenty times and everything I've had has been delicious.
