Glass Pavilion, Toledo Museum of Art

Toledo Museum of Art's Glass Pavilion, designed by the Japanese architectural team of Ryue Nishizawa and Kazuyo Sejima, opened in August of 2006. All of the modern structure's exterior walls are made of glass and most of the interior ones are as well. The Pavilion houses the museum's diverse art glass collection as well as studios, a glass-blowing workshop, and a theater.

Begun in 1922 by Libbey Glass founder, Edward Drummond Libbey and his wife, the Toledo Museum of Art houses a diverse collection of art, including a sizeable number of important works by 19th century European and American painters as well as an interesting decorative arts section. The glass exhibit, begun by Mr. Libbey, includes over 7000 objects, dating from ancient times to the present. Join me for a look at the Glass Pavilion and some of its most interesting pieces.
