The 76,000 square foot Glass Pavilion, opened in August of 2006, sits across the street from the main building of the Toledo Museum of Art. The modern, all-glass exterior building is a stark and visually interesting contrast to the Neo-classical main building. The Glass Pavilion was designed by the Japanese architectural team of Ryue Nishizawa and Kazuyo Sejima, their first project in the United States.

The gleaming building intices the visitor as soon as you approach it. It's a peaceful space and a fitting home to Toledo's astounding glass collection. Inside, only one of the galleries has solid walls; all of the others are made of glass, giving the spaces an interactive feel. In addition to the galleries, the Pavilion houses a glass-blowing studio, a light and airy museum cafe, and a theater.

The Glass Pavilion is open Tuesday - Thursday: 10am - 4pm, Friday: 10am - 10pm, Saturday: 10am - 4pm, and Sunday: 11am - 5pm. The museum is closed on Mondays and major holidays. Admission is free. Parking is available in the museum lot for $3.
