In their newest exhibit, the Cleveland Museum of Art examines the political and religious power of more than 60 primarily wooden sculptures, created by artists from four Central African Cultures--the Luba, Songye, Chokwe, and Luluwa.
"Art & Power in the Central African Savanna" is on display from March 1, 2009 through May 31, 2009. This is a free exhibit, though timed tickets must be picked up at the museum box office, and is being shown in the newly opened Kelvin and Eleanor Smith Foundation Exhibition Hall of the musuem's East Wing.
The Cleveland Museum of Art is open Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10am to 5pm and on Wednesday and Friday from 10am to 9pm.
