The Park Lane Villas is a former residential hotel, built in the early 1920s, along East Blvd in Cleveland's University Circle neighborhood.
The once lovely Beaux-Arts building is being renovated to house 96 large one, two, and three-bedroom suites. Construction began in April, 2006. Construction is anticipated to be complete in mid-2007.
The Building:
Park Lane Villas sits along East Boulevard, overlooking Rockefeller Park, within a short walk of the Cleveland Museum of Art, Case Western Reserve University, and other University Circle museums and attractions. The six-story building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It had been converted into 187 subsidized housing units, but has been abandonned for several years.
The Plan:
The $28.5 million renovation plan, headed by Boston's Finch Group and Cleveland's City Architecture, calls for 96 large one, two, and three-bedroom rental units, priced from $1000 to $2200 per month. The developers are seeking a restaurant tenant for the two-story former ballroom. Interior demolition began in April of 2006, with a completion date set for mid-2007.
Amenities:
In addition to the proposed restaurant, tenants at the Park Lane Villas will enjoy 24-hour concierge and security services and a parklike center courtyard.
