Wildwater Kingdom Water Park

Wildwater Kingdom Water Park, located southeast of Cleveland in Aurora Ohio, is a 690 acre family-fun complex, complete with a variety of water attractions, a tidal wave pool, and thrilling water rides. The park complex, which includes the former Geauga Lake property, first opened in 1888 and is one of the country's oldest amusement facilities.

History: Geauga Lake started in 1888, making it one of the oldest amusement parks in the country. Originally, it was a summer getaway from the bustle of the big city. Over the years, the park has featured a big band dance hall; an Olympic pool where "Tarzan" actor Johnny Weissmueller set a world record; and one of the country's first wave pools. Today, the park is owned by CedarFair, the parent company of Cedar Point in Sandusky. In late 2007, CedarFair announced that it would be closing Geauga Lake Park. Beginning with the 2008 season, the park will be exclusively Wildwater Kingdom.

The Rides at Wildwater Kingdom: Attractions at Wildwater Kingdom Water Park include "Tidal Wave Bay," a 30,000 square foot wave pool; "Splash Landing," a four-story, 3-level play structure with 70 different water gadgets; and "Thunder Falls," Ohio's tallest waterslide complex.

Other Facilities: Facilities at the park complex include a large public picnic area, ATM machines, and wheelchair and stroller rentals.

Hours and Admission: Wildwater Kingdom opens in late May and stays open until Labor Day. Admission prices for 2008 are $23.95 guests 48" or taller between 3 and 61 years and $11.95 for seniors and juniors (under 48"). A special "after 5pm" Starlight price of $15.95 is also offered as are a number of annual pass options. Parking is $8.00 per car.
