Guide Review - Wasabi Hibachi Steakhouse
Upon entering Wasabi Hibachi Steakhouse, the starlit sky is entrancing as you walk across the glass bridge over the koi pond to the spectacular waterfall. Guests are pleasantly greeted by the staff and seated in one of several dining areas. In the Hibachi dining area, food is cooked by veteran chefs on teppanyaki grills, right in front of you. In the fine dining room, guests chose from table seating, the sushi bar, or an intimate Tatami room.
We chose the popular Hibachi dining experience. This room is surrounded in mahogany wood with a rice paper border, black marble tables, and large artificial cherry blossom trees breaking forth from the floor and up through the ceiling. The menu includes appetizers, hibachi grill items, sushi, sashimi, and teriyaki or tempura dinner entrees. They also have an extensive wine list.
Our dinner began with steaming mushroom soup with tender squid and a house salad with ginger dressing. The squid in the mushroom soup was a surprise and delicious. We also enjoyed the extremely fresh spicy crab maki, at half price since it was happy hour for both drinks and sushi.
For an entree, I chose the the shrimp with sirloin steak, and both were cooked to perfection--tender and juicy. My husband chose scallops and chicken, seared with all of the juices locked in and very flavorful. The quantity of each meat item was much larger than we have found at similar restaurants and much more flavorful. The accompanying fried rice and vegetables were delicious.
The Hibachi chefs are entertaining, fun, and very lively. Expect many Jackie Chan-type tricks, playful handling of the spatula and knives, food throwing, squirts of sake into your mouth, high flames shooting into the air, and playful jokes from the entertaining chefs. Our waiter was professional and very accommodating without being overbearing.
