Raj Mahal has two locations in Akron, one in Cuyahoga Falls and more recently, one in Fairlawn. Both restaurants are relaxed and quiet but don't let that deter you from bringing the whole family. You know that the food is authentic when quite a few of the guests are of India decent. All nationalities can be found at this casual-to-fine dining establishment.For those that have not experienced Indian food, Raj Mahal is the best place to start. Each authentic Indian dish can be prepared mild, medium, or hot. The staff will advise you on what to order or answer any questions that you may have if you are not familiar with the dishes.
A great option for beginners is the lunch buffet, served every day. The buffet has a large assortment of food including appetizers and desserts. The dishes are prepared mild but can be spiced up with chutney. The lunch buffet is also a great value.
I recently visited the Fairlawn location and started my meal out with the Vegetables Samosa appetizer. Eaten without chutney, it has a familiar taste of a deep fried pierogi. The chutney is flavorful; I chose mint and tamarind. The warm, freshly baked Naan (bread) went well with the chutney. The chicken curry at Raj Mahal is mouth-watering with the perfect combination of onions, tomatoes, and garlic. Each meal comes with plenty of basmati rice. The portions are satisfying, without being overwhelming. The friendly staff keeps your drink full and are very accommodating.
