Guide Review - Otani Japanese Restaurant - Akron

Dinner starts with a mushroom soup and orange ginger salad. For dinner, your choices include Chicken, a variety of steak, pork, seafood, vegetarian as well as authentic Japanese dishes. All dinners include vegetables, fried rice, and shrimp flambe, hot off the grill. Dinner ends with sherbet and a fortune cookie, as well as a full tummy.

The chefs are great at personalizing the experience for the crowd. They cracks jokes; throw food high into the air; make art out of the fried rice in shapes, such as a heart; and create onion volcanoes with fire flaming high up into the air.

Customer service non-existent, owner has a temper!, Member 103181

It's kind of grungy looking and smelly inside, but I had always had good meals so used to go here frequently. Last time I went I did not like the food and tried to complain. Like others' comments have indicated--don't waste your breath! You will get nothing for it. I got no real response to my POLITE comment in the moment, so just ate the food as I was starving (no other option other than to sit while everyone else ate)...when I asked for some kind of compromise over the bill when it came (again politely and respectfully), the owner and wife were immediately ready to fight me, asking why I had eaten the food, and insisting I needed to pay--like I was going to dine and dash. When the guy started yelling and slamming his hand on the table, I just paid in full because I wanted to get out of there safely....SCARY!
