Guide Review - Akron's Metro Burger
You fill out a form to place your order at Metro Burger. It's a little tedious to do that for each burger but you get exactly what you want that way. Choices include Beef (corn-fed cattle raised on strict all-vegetarian diet), turkey, veggie, or chicken breast. For a sandwich, you can choose between a pretzel, egg bun, or honey wheat bun or make it a salad by having your meat atop bed of lettuce. Other choices include eight cheeses, and 22 toppings, and one of 16 sauces. Or, leave it to the pros and order a Metro Burger Classic, where the burgers are already paired with the perfect combinations. A buzzer alerts you when your food is done, usually in around 10 minutes.Seating is available inside and out on the patio. The modern color scheme inside includes dark, concrete floors, track lighting, and art deco hand-painted murals of the city. Fun, lively music fills the air.
The food presentation was surprising for a burger place, artistic even. I ordered the 1/3 lb Southwest Veggie burger, which has won awards at Akron's National Hamburger Festival for best vegetarian burger. It was spicy, but not overpowering with pepper jack cheese, roasted red peppers that melt in your mouth, black bean & corn salsa, and roasted red pepper mayo. The flavors matched perfectly. Even at 1/3 lb, the smallest available, this is a rather large burger. I paired my burger with gigantic onion rings, served hot and delicious. It was one of the best burgers that I've had and THE best veggie burger.
The kids menu is limited to three options which are all kid favorites: burgers or grilled cheese. Kids choices are priced reasonably at around $4 and include fries and a drink. Metro Burger is a very kid friendly environment. No worries about spills or noisy kids. The atmosphere is open with music keeping your conversations and any kid mishaps to yourselves.
