If you are looking for a restaurant that is unlike any other in the Midwest, try Akron's Vegi Terranean. Vegetarian or not, you will enjoy the flavorful, all-organic, vegan food in an upscale contemporary setting. Located in downtown Akron, it is fast becoming a favorite spot for fine dining. The dining experience is well worth the drive downtown, as is one of founder and rock star Chrissie Hynde’s goal for her hometown.
Vegi Terranean is a fresh look for downtown Akron, located in the trendy Northside Lofts complex. This modern restaurant has a sleek use of metals and concrete while offering an airy, open dining room or the patio setting, overlooking the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad. Vegi Terranean offers a full restaurant, bar, bakery, and coffee shop.

The menu is completely vegan, with an Italian flair. There is a full menu of choices including: appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers, pizza, pasta, entrees, and sides. The menu changes seasonally, offering the freshest, organic, in-season foods.

The Vegi Terranean is proud to have two certified culinary vegetarian chefs on staff, the only restaurant offering this in the Midwest. The chefs prepare the menu with a balance of carbs and protein.

The Food

Vegans and non-vegans alike are found enjoying the flavorful foods at Vegi Terranean. Reservations are recommended as the restaurant fills up quickly. During lunch, many local businesses are found entertaining clients, as well as people casually stopping for lunch downtown.

I enjoyed the True Rockin Burger veggi burger (pictured at left) with a side greens salad. The burger was juicy and delicious, just as hardy as any hamburger. The salad was fresh with a flavorful balsamic dressing. My guest ordered the Potato Gnocchi with grilled Gardien chicken. The dish was delicious with a creamy cashew sauce and fresh broccoli. If you didn’t know that you were not eating chicken, you would think it was really chicken. The Gardien chicken is amazing. Chrissy promises that her fries are the best you’ve ever tasted and you can believe it. A side of fries is more than enough for two people, served hot with balsamic ketchup that is unlike anything you’re use to.

The staff is very accommodating, as are the chefs. If you have a special request or any food allergies, the chef will prepare a dish especially for you.
