Norton, located in northern Summit County, is a quiet, rural city--a retreat from the busy city life, yet easily connected to the major roadways. Education is top notch with the schools earning an "Excellent" rating.

History:

Norton got its name from the chief landowner Birdseye Norton. Norton became a township in 1818, a village in 1961, and a city in 1969. Norton was known for fertile land, farming, and coal mining.

Demographics:

According to the 2000 census, Norton has 11,523 residents, 97% of whom are white, 1.3% African-American, and .3% Asian. In addition, 64% of Norton residents are married. The median age is 39 and the median household income is $47,085.
