Green, Ohio is a city of convenience and picturesque landscapes. The City of Green is conveniently located between Akron and Canton, with easy accessibility by three major highways and the Akron-Canton Airport. Green is home to Portage Lakes State Park, five golf courses, an excellent school system, and many public parks and recreational centers.


In 1809, the township of Green was organized with its 34 square miles primary used for farms and coal mining. With Green Township planted in the middle of several stagecoach routes, the need for housing increased, farms were developed into residential districts. Green’s economy switched to small businesses and industrial. Green continued to grow, partly due to its central location and became the city of Green in 1992.


According to the 2000 census, Green has 22,817 residents, 97% of whom are white, less than 1% African-American, and less than 1% Asian. In addition, 63% of Green residents are married. The median age is 37 and the median household income is $54,133.

Boettler Park is Green’s first public park, boasting 62 acres of walking trails, grassy meadows, stocked pond that requires no fishing license, basketball court, 4 tennis courts, pavilion, and the award winning 30,000 square foot Heritage Hill Playground. There are also five additional parks, a community center, and sports complex within the city of Green. Choose between five golf courses and four lakes within the Portage Lakes State Park system for many leisure activities.
