Green, Ohio is a city of convenience and picturesque landscapes. In 1809, the township of Green was organized with its 34 square miles primary used for farms and coal mining. With Green Township planted in the middle of several stagecoach routes, the need for housing increased, farms were developed into residential districts. Green’s economy switched to small businesses and industrial. Green continued to grow, partly due to its central location and became the city of Green in 1992.
According to the 2000 census, Green has 22,817 residents, 97% of whom are white, less than 1% African-American, and less than 1% Asian. In addition, 63% of Green residents are married. The median age is 37 and the median household income is $54,133.
