Bath Township, in Ohio's Summit County, is a picturesque community and home to 9,635 people who enjoy the rural setting with all of the conveniences of nearby Fairlawn and Akron. The Ohio Scenic Byway runs through 38 miles of rural areas, including many stops along the way in Bath Township.

History:

Bath Township became part of the United States in 1805 when the Treaty of Fort Industry was signed. As part of the Western Reserve Territory, Bath began in 1818 when the first settlers organized it as Wheatfield, then Hammondsburgh named after settlers. Bath Township takes pride in its history and many local exhibits and collections are on display in the Bath Township Museum, located in the Historic Bath Town Hall.

Demographics:

According to the 2000 census, Bath has 9,635 residents, 95% of whom are white, 1.6% African-American, and 1.9% Asian. In addition, 67% of Bath residents are married. The median age is 41 and the median household income is $88,899.

Education:

Bath students attend the Revere School District that has a current enrollment of around 2800 students. Revere Schools have achieved the highest rating of Excellent since the Ohio Department of Education began the Local Report Card assessment. Facilities include a two elementary schools, a middle school, and a high school.

Famous Residents:

Well-known residents of Bath Township (past and present) include James Rumsey (steamboat inventor), Jeffrey Dahmer (serial killer), and LeBron James (Cavs Basketball Star).

Parks:

There are four parks within Bath Township. Facilities include a Community Activity Center, a Nature Preserve, tennis courts, baseball fields, volleyball courts, horseshoe pit courts, football/lacrosse/rugby field, miles of hiking trails, basketball court, playgrounds, pavilions, and picnic areas.

Events:

Annual events in Bath Township include the Annual Bath Home Tour, Annual Barns of Bath, and Bath Heritage Days. Many additional events take place in historic Hale Farm & Village, where the everyday lives of those living in Wheatfield Village (former name for Bath Township) are on display.
