Akron Family Attractions
The Akron Zoo, begun in 1953 as the Akron Children's Zoo, is a small, family-friendly park, located just west of downtown Akron. The 50-acre zoo is home to over 700 animals, including the endangered Humboldt penguins, jaguar, and the elusive snow leopard.
Hale Farm and Village
Hale Farm and Village, a part of the Western Reserve Historical Society, is a working museum, adjacent to the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Once the home of early Western Reserve settler, Jonathan Hale, the museum features livestock, 19th century working artisans, and the original red brick farmhouse.
Pro Football Hall of Fame
The Pro Football Hall of Fame, located in Canton Ohio, was opened in 1963 with 17 charter inductees. Today, the museum features scores of players, coaches, and owners as well as exhibits about football, the super bowl, and the history of the game.
