The new 63,300 square-foot John S. and James L. Knight building is comprised of three distinct architectural elements:
  • The "Crystal" - a three-story lobby that connects the museum's art, education, administration, and public program spaces

  • The "Gallery Box" - a flexible exhibition space that includes 7300 square-feet of space for temporary exhibits and 13,000 square-feet for permanent displays

  • The "Roof Cloud" - a 327-foot-long cantilevered steel roof that extends over both the new and old buildings and creates a striking new vista for downtown Akron.
