E.J. Thomas Hall, located on the campus of the University of Akron, is the largest of three Akron performance halls. It is the home of the Akron Symphony Orchestra, the Tuesday Musical Club, and the Children's Concert Society. Each year, more than 400,000 guests enjoy world-class performances events here, including Broadway musicals, ballets, comedies, lectures, entertainers, and other special events.

The Hall:

E.J. Thomas Hall seats 2955, divided among three tiers. The hall's acoustic sound is top-notch due to the counterweighted ceiling's unique ability to be adjusted. The movable 44-ton ceiling helps regulate the volume, acoustics and actually alters the physical dimensions of the hall.

Beyond Broadway:

In addition to Broadway Shows, E.J. Thomas Hall hosts a full schedule of performances throughout the year. The Akron Symphony performs seven classical and three family concerts each year.Tuesday Musical Association, a classical association of soloists and ensembles has a variety of performances scheduled each winter and spring, and the Children's Concert Society offers opportunities for 60,000 children annually to experience live musical performances at E.J. Thomas Hall, as well as in schools.

The Flying Balcony Club:

E.J. Thomas' Flying Balcony Club offers frequent patrons exclusive offers, a full service bar, reserved parking, live entertainment, and the opportunity to purchase a light supper or desserts at some events. Membership also provides financial support for the hall. A variety of membership levels are available, starting at $200.

Tickets for E.J. Thomas Hall Events:

Tickets for E.J. Thomas Hall events are available at the venue's ticket Office or via Ticketmaster. The Ticket Office is located at the top of the parking deck ramp. Hours: Monday – Friday 10:30 am – 6 pm, Saturday 10 am – 2pm. Summer Hours: Monday – Friday 10 am – 4 pm. Performances are not recommended for children under 4. Parking at the venue varies, but is usually in the $5 range.

Getting There:


From the North: Take Rt 8 South. Exit Buchtel Avenue/Carroll Street. Turn right onto Buchtel Ave.; follow until you reach E.J. Thomas Hall.

From the West: Take I-77 South/I-76 East. Exit Wolf Ledges. Turn left onto Wolf Ledges; turn right on Wolf Ledges Parkway.

From the South: Take I-77 North to Route 8 North. Exit Buchtel Avenue/Carroll Street. Turn left on Buchtel Ave; follow until you reach E.J. Thomas Hall.
