The US Park Service is offering free admission again this year to more than 100 national monuments and parks. The dates for 2013 are January 21, April 22-26, August 25, September 28, and November 9-11. In Northeast Ohio, that means free admission to the James A. Garfield National Historic Site, Perry's Victory and International Peace Monument at Put-in-Bay (pictured above), and the First Ladies National Historic Site in Canton.
If you're traveling this year, other parks featured include Grand Canyon National Park, Yosemite National Park, and Everglades National Park. For a complete listing, visit the US Park Service Web site.
