Little Italy's Feast of the Assumption

Thursday August 13, 2009

Little Italy's annual street party, the Feast of the Assumption, begins August 13 and runs through Sunday, August 16. The event is a unique combination of religious and secular fun, with carnival rides, food vendors, live music, and the highlight of the celebration, a parade through the streets of Little Italy with church members carrying the Virgin Mary aloft.

The "Feast" is one of those events that's just fun for everyone. They close off Mayfield Road and much of the party takes place in the middle of the street. Last year, more than 100,000 people joined in the party. Best of all: admission is free.
