Cleveland Public Library: "The People's University"

As a writer, I love the Cleveland Public Library. Where else can you have access to over 10 million books, tapes, and CDs and have them delivered to your local branch library for pickup? With the library's online database, you can search the CLEVNET system, a consortium of 31 Northeast Ohio library systems, request material, and renew items -- all from the privacy of your home.The Cleveland Public Library, founded in 1869, includes the main library on Superior Avenue at E 3rd St. and 28 branch libraries, scattered throughout the city. (That's the Fleet Avenue Branch, pictured at right.) Library cards are free to Ohio residents and temporary cards are available for visitors planning on staying at least six weeks in the area.
All branches offer computers and Internet access as well as a good selection of DVDs and CDs. It's a wonderful resource.

truly the peoples university. can spend hours admiring the volumes and the building itself (at the main library). my local branches (carniege + walz) have that local flavor with equally impressive collections.
