The Taxman Cometh
Friday January 2, 2009
Cuyahoga County has distributed their annual holiday presents--your real estate tax bills (can the Federal and State tax forms be far behind?)
Homeowners: Make sure to pay your property taxes by the due date, January 21. You can mail your check or money order, pay online, pay by credit card at 800-272-9829, or pay in person at 1219 Ontario St, Room 121.
Whichever method you choose, get your payment to the treasurer’s office by January 21 (or at least postmarked by then) or face an instant 10% penalty. Homeowners with tax questions can call the Cuyahoga County Treasurer’s office at 216 443-7420 or visit their website.
Renters: Be kind to your landlord this month. The county’s after-the-holidays present is about 10% higher this year. OUCH!
