The All-American Soap Box Derby Returns to Akron

Thursday July 3, 2008
The All-American Soap Box Derby, a week-long festival culminating in the downhill race, featuring home-made racing cars and clever kids, returns to Akron's Derby Downs July 26 (2008).

The Derby, first run in 1934, is open to boys and girls ages 8-17 who qualified in regional events. The week's activities include a parade of cars and drivers, car-making clinics, a rally, and, of course, the race. For more information, see the Derby's official website.
